Two Men Drowned
The Scotsman, Aug 1, 1835.
Melancholy Accident.—Two Men Drowned.—On Saturday evening last, a young man, named William Cameron, a shoemaker, residing in Glenmoriston, went with Allan Macdonald, and some other persons of the same district, to bathe in the river Morrison. Macdonald got into a pool, and called out to Cameron (who was an excellent swimmer) that he was in danger, upon which his companion went to his assistance, and seized him by the head to take him ashore. The other, however, dragged him down, and both sank in the pool to rise no more. The bodies were found next morning. The father of Cameron was killed some years ago in an affray with excise-men, and the young man, so suddenly snatched away while endeavouring to save the life of another, was the sole support of his mother and family.
